Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu shrine in Nepal. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but are allowed to explore this large religious centre with many smaller religious edifices in the immediate surroundings. The cremation area is visible and provides a moving testimony to the depth of religious feeling in this part of the World. With a potential for large crowds, the area is surrounded by many small businesses offering food, religious souvenirs, garlands and other ancilliary services.
